How HMC Supports Improvement
What do I need to do at my Facility? Is my Corporate Expense in line? Do I have common problems across the system?
Facility. The burden of performance and budgeting pressures tends to fall first on each hospital. This view allows you see the root causes of costs and excesses and identify the facility’s own responsibilities for improvement.
Corporate Expense. These costs are allocated to facilities but are managed centrally. The facility benchmark will show the impact of Corporate costs on a facility, but the Corporate Benchmark shows whether these corporate costs are in line or not. This benchmark is created by rolling-up all the corporate expenses and looking at similar system-wide corporate expense levels.
System Level. Problems that are common to many of the facilities in a system take on a special meaning. Their improvement is more urgent and their solution more leveraged. HMC identifies these recurrent issues and opportunities into a single system-wide view that can enable significant and powerful improvement opportunities. The tool even permits you to compare and contrast internal benchmarks with external benchmarks from peers.
