STRATEGIC ASSESSMENT
Know the location and nature of you cost excess, and target areas for improvement
To pursue performance improvement opportunities it’s not enough to know where there are opportunities to
reduce costs. You need to know the nature of the excess costs. If you have excess costs in information
systems, for example, it’s helpful to know if those costs are the result of system cost allocations, depreciation
or rates of pay. Prioritizing your organizations areas of focus depends on the degree of difficulty your
organization will experience. And that degree of difficulty is different for every organization. Effective
prioritization is the first step in improving the probability of success.
How does your organization prioritize areas of opportunity?
